Being involved in textile arts, a new world for me and the emergence of textile arts have fascinated me, not through educational certificates or university education or seminars, but also by working together watching each other together with family members and neighbors years and years. Experience had a lifetime, and the highest masters of the artisans are illiterate teachers, most of them farmers and nomads living in the cave.

Cami halisiCami halisi were my mentors and best friends. People might be reading this interview about me, assuming I'm some kind of expert in these textile arts. But the women I worked with laughed a lot. It was the worst and most awkward weaver I have ever gone to anywhere! They're real masters. They laughed a lot in my work.

And I like women to dominate the creation of textiles. Think about it! Ironically, I have found many adventures related to making native objects. It was my experience living with a family of cave dwelling nomads in the Moroccan desert that I encountered with the strength of carpet weaving, joking that I should start a homewares line of baskets, blankets, carpets and quilting. Anne Zahra was an amazing carpet artist, and she did beautiful and inventive art on a tree branch bench without doing anything else than reusing her family from sheaths and wool.
