One of the joys I find in wearing nail polish is admiring the color under different lighting conditions. I’ve come to expect ones like metallics and those with multicolored shimmer to show a vast difference in the sun versus the shade, but creme finishes more or less remain the same recognizable color, save for a few brightness differences.
Gayle?is an exception. Although a rich creme without hidden shimmer, it catches light in a way that completely transforms itself depending on the amount of light available.
It’s a polish that adjusts to the mood: dark and sultry for night, bright and playful for day…
Julep Gayle Nail Vernis swatch in indirect sunlight
Gayle is a dark to mid-tone eggplant-purple creme with a warm undertone. It’s not quite dark enough for me to consider it a “vampy” color, though I realize the definition is completely subjective. Unlike Dior Purple Mix, another warm-toned purple, it’s a solid purple aubergine without any underlying smokiness or grey cast.

I’d heard rumors of Julep being one-coat polishes, but I hadn’t found it to be true until Gayle. It’s richly saturated, has the perfect not-too-watery, not-too-thick consistency, and the brush dispenses just the right amount of product to evenly coat the nail in one go.

And no, the above photo is not of an ombre manicure, though it looks like one, doesn’t it? It shows off Gayle‘s?multiple looks, from a mid-tone, very warm purple under direct sunlight to the left, moving onto a darker, richer eggplant in the shade to the right. It’s hard to believe it’s the same polish.
Gayle seems to be a popular color amongst Julep fans. You like?
