When dear reader Leila?had commented that Julep Brandt reminds her of the material of a suit, she was spot on! A dark grey, Brand it just smokey enough to separate itself from pitch black gothic nails to possess a fabric-like look under its glossy facade.
At this point with the mention of a formal suit and an outward facade, all I can think of is Mr. Grey, ? la Fifty Shades of Grey…but let’s stay on topic, shall we?

I must say, this is one of the few times I’ve found a Julep polish to be a true one-coater. Most of their cr?mes are fantastically opaque, but possibly because of my application method, I normally end up with 2 coats to achieve evenness.
Not so with Brandt! I’ve already worn it twice (that’s how much I love it!) and enjoyed how easy it was to take a slightly thicker coat to paint smoothly and evenly. It felt strange to stop at just one coat, but I can’t complain that my manicure took half the time it normally would.

You can clearly see that Brand is grey, not black, especially under bright light. Dark colors like this seem to easily absorb surrounding colors and I often saw a blue cast, making it seem like a navy grey. Yup, it’s definitely an enigma; a Mr. Fifty Shades of polish.
Ok, enough references to that book. (Don’t shoot me!) I love the simplicity and seamlessness of Brandt. It reminded me that dark colors really are my favorite polishes because of how clean and contrasting they look against the skin, and I finally feel ready for fall colors.
What about you? Would you wear Brandt?

It looks a lot like Nars’ Galion; they’re both so beautiful.

It’s frustrating that they’re not more widely available! They made it into US Sephora this year, so I hope that means they’ll continue expanding.

Wow you make black nails look so classy and non-rock…and a true one-coater as well! I am mighty impressed!

Thank you, Beauty Box! More polishes should be a one-coater like this!
